Improvement of the
investment climate
In order to have a suitable investment climate, reduce risks to small investors and attract investments, it is necessary to revise a number laws and regulations related with investment in Oman in general, and with the entry of investors in privatization programs, in particular. Reform of the sectors through the framing of laws regulating the sectors where the participation of the private sector is sought in terms of investment, such as communications, electricity, water, airports.. etc is being undertaken.
The general trend is to raise the percentage of shareholding by foreigners in the share capital as regards project’s founders and to eliminate discrimination in tax treatment to new projects such as the treatment made to Al kamil, Barka’a and Salalah power projects.
